Rev. Dr.  Derrick C. Holloway, Sr.

Rev. Dr. Derrick Christopher Holloway, Sr., pastor of First Calvary Church in Hartford, Connecticut, is a Bi-Vocational Pastor, holding full-time secular and religious occupations. He is currently a General Supervisor for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation in Vernon, CT. Prior to working for the CTDOT, Rev. Holloway worked as a crew leader and also as an inmate supervisor, where he received the call to Ministry.

Rev. Holloway was ordained in 2006 under the leadership of Bishop James L. Fenner, Sr. He was installed as the pastor of First Calvary in Hartford in 2017. Under Dr. Holloway’s leadership, First Calvary has started a Deacons’ training class, a Men’s Ministry, an Ushers Ministry, a Women’s Ministry and a Missionary Ministry.

In addition to pastoring First Calvary, Rev. Holloway is an active member of, and teacher for, the National Baptist, Connecticut Baptist, and Southern Baptist Conventions. He is the Vice Moderator of the Asher Association of the CT State Missionary Baptist Convention. He also teaches at the Christian Leadership School of Connecticut. His civic service includes Heads Up Hartford, The Curtis Robinson’s Men’s Health Initiative and the Urban Alliance.

A veteran of the U.S. Army having achieved the rank of staff sergeant and received numerous citations, Rev. Holloway is a product of the Georgia and Connecticut public school systems. He received a Doctorate in Biblical Theology from Heart Bible Institute, and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. He is also a Certified Pastoral Counselor.

Rev. Holloway was born in Reynolds, GA to Rev. Mattye R. Davis. He accepted the Lord and was baptized at an early age at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Decatur, GA. He moved to CT in 1974 and joined Mount Olive Baptist Church where he started playing the drums at the age of 13 under the direction of Bro. Johnny Whitaker. Rev. Holloway played with several world-known artists, including Milton Bingham, Charles Nicks, and Donnie McClurkin to name a few. He has played in Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium, The Hartford Civic Center, and The Bushnell. He has traveled with many choirs throughout the United States.

Rev. Holloway’s favorite song is “It is Well” and his favorite scripture is Romans 8:28. Rev. Holloway has been married to the lovely Minister Evanna Holloway, his adoring wife, for 22 years and they are the proud parents of Derrick Christopher Holloway, Jr; 22; Ivana Christina Holloway 21 and D’ana Christen Holloway 20
